Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang and wife Andraia Allsop attend 2024 MusiCares gala in first sighting since David Lee Roth’s expletive-filled rant against him

Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang and his wife Andraia Allsop stole the spotlight at the 2024 MusiCares Person of the Year gala in Los Angeles on Friday.

The 32-year-old musician looked every inch the rock star in his black jacket and matching ripped denim as he hit the red carpet at the official GRAMMY Week event taking place at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Wrapping his arm around Andraia – whom he married in October 2023 – the bassist kept a low profile in a set of purple-tinted aviators.

Andraia, meanwhile, stunned in a black cold-shoulder gown with a high slit up her thigh while Wolfgang planted a smooch on her.

The outing is the first sighting of Wolfgang since Van Halen’s lead singer David Lee Roth launched a profanity filled rant against him on his podcast, ‘The Roth Show’ on YouTube.

In a clip from his show posted on his Instagram page, the 69-year-old singer is heard launching in a tirade of abuse against Wolfgang and calls him ‘this f****** kid’ as well as a ‘schlemiel’ (fool in Yiddish) repeatedly.

Wolfgang played bass in Van Halen from from 2007 to 2015 after replacing original  bassist Michael Anthony. The 32-year-old singer is currently releasing music with his band, Mammoth WVH.

The clip begins with a spoof interview of David interviewing Jesus Christ and implies that his bandmate’s son has been benefiting from nepotism.

He also claims that Wolfgang spent time complaining that he did not pay attention to him while they were touring together.

The vocalist said: ‘This f****** kid! He’s complaining the entire tour like I’m not paying enough attention to him onstage.

‘I’m giving him the best, everything I’ve got, in front of 20-30,000 people at a clip, and he’s complaining to everybody around me — the business manager, the security guy, the clothing lady — “Dave’s not paying enough attention to me”.’

He then began to say that he had invited ‘two dames’ to one of the band’s shows in New York but they were ‘stiffed for tickets’ and allegedly thrown out by Wolfgang.

‘This f—ing kid, what he doesn’t know is that these two dames work for the accounting firm that represent him, not me.

‘But as usual, he, just like his uncle and his uncle’s brother, stiffed them for tickets.

‘He’s teaching me a lesson. What this f****** kid doesn’t know? They’re carrying the paychecks for all 82 people on the road crew.’

David further went on to say that a similar incident had happened at their concert in Los Angeles, which was notably also his last performance with Eddie.

‘We’re at the Hollywood Bowl, I’m about to launch into “Ice Cream Man”, and this f****** kid. He commandeers two muscle monkeys, locates the one dame that is my guest. She’s off in the wings of the Hollywood Bowl.

‘They find her, make her do the walk of shame past all the other guests and out into the parking lot and throw her out of the building.’

‘Wolfie Van Halen’s going to teach me a lesson by throwing out what he thinks is my girlfriend. But guess what? Not only is this an accountant again, and not only is she carrying the paychecks for 82 of us on the road crew, but she’s carrying cash bonuses for everybody there.’

He noted that the woman was the same ‘dame’ who had been thrown out in New York.

But fans of the legendary band have criticized David’s comments and called them in ‘bad taste’ as well as called him ‘sour grapes’.

One user wrote: ‘I’m a huge VH and Dave fan but this is in bad taste dude! “The Kid” hasn’t thrown you under the bus & I’m sure it would be very easy to do… Stay classy Dave.

While another user wrote: ‘If it wasn’t for Wolfgang, DLR wouldn’t have had the last couple of tours with VH and if it wasn’t for EVH, we wouldn’t even know who DLR is.’

One user also noted the Van Halen’s family’s contribution to music and said: ‘Reality is that Wolfie is a third generation professional musician. Performed all the instruments on the album as well as all the vocals. Earned his stripes supporting a full concert tour when most kids were playing Xbox and trying to pass French class. The Van Halens have always let the music do the talking…..’

Another user commented on Wolfgang’s success: ‘Last I heard, he’s the one touring stadiums and headlining his own tours. He’s the one who’s also responsible for giving you a second wind. Get over yourself. You’re sour grapes, and you’ll never be as important as his father was. Clown.’

In a Billboard interview in 2021, Wolfgang had addressed the criticism and nepotism allegations made by people against him.

‘With the name or just having the parents that I have, people assume that I’m an unmotivated person who is just comfortable in doing nothing and coasting on what has come before with what my name entails. And I’m anything but that.’
