Eddie McGuire shares his memories of Shane Warne ahead of the first anniversary of the cricket legends death: ‘You expect him to walk in at any moment’

Eddie McGuire was remembering his good friend Shane Warne on Friday, ahead of the anniversary of the cricket legend’s tragic death.

The 58-year-old tells The Herald Sun that he almost expects ‘him to walk in at any moment’ as the athlete was often overseas for long periods.

‘It’s really hit at times during the year, whether it’s something on the telly or a bit of commentary or somebody posts something about Warnie… you just remember what a light force he was of positivity and fun’ Eddie said.

‘He was just such a wonderful person and we miss him’ he added.

Eddie went on to pay tribute to Shane’s adult children and their resilience in the wake of the loss.

‘(The children) have been remarkable. Their public show of love for their father which they were prepared to share with the whole of the world was just wonderful and it made it easier for us all’ he said.

Shane had three kids – son Jackson, 23, and daughters Summer 21, and Brooke, 25 – with his ex wife Simone Callahan, 53.

The sportsman died on March 4 last year at the age of 52 while on holiday with his friends in Koh Samui, Thailand.
