Dancing on Ice favourite Amber Davies is to star on Coronation Street after bosses created a role for her following her popularity since winning Love Island.
MailOnline can reveal that she is to join the ITV soap in the summer in what is described by sources on the programme as a ‘lead character.’
Davies, who won Love Island in 2017, auditioned for a role on the cobbles 18 months ago but lost the top job to another star.
Now since seeing her popularity boom, ITV bosses created a new role for her and called her back earlier this year to offer her the job which she is said to be ‘thrilled’ about and has accepted.
A source close to Davies told MailOnline: ‘This is like a dream come true for her, Amber can’t believe it, she is so excited.’

Since winning Love Island with ex-boyfriend Kem Cetinay, Davies has pursued a professional acting career having trained at the Urdang Academy in her youth.
In 2019 she starred in Dolly Parton’s West End 9 to 5 musical before landing a leading role in the theatrical adaptation of musical Bring It On in 2021.
In October 2023 she played the famous Julia Roberts in the West End musical Pretty Woman.
The show toured the UK and Davies herself received rave reviews.
Since starring on the latest series of Dancing on Ice, she has quickly become the favourite to win.
Before the show started, she had to hit back at claims she has an unfair advantage on Dancing On Ice because of her dancing background.
Earlier this week, she also announced another career move which will see her host a podcast.
She will be the host of a new theatre-focused podcast called Your 5-Minute Call.

‘I wanted to create a happy space where we can have good healthy conversations about the highs, lows, the good and the more challenging times when it comes to the industry we all live, breathe & adore,’ she told her 1.3 million Instagram followers.
‘We have the most iconic West End guests joining [side eye emoji] and I can’t wait for us all to go on this journey together, the theatre community really is WHERE IT’S AT!!!’.
Davies is now dating her West End leading man Ben Joyce who played Marty McFly in the stage adaptation of the hit 1985 film Back To The Future.
She played Lorraine Baines McFly, the mum of Ben’s character who flirts with him after he travels back in time in his space-age motor.
The TV personality admitted to the relation whilst appearing on Lorraine in October 2022 saying: ‘I accidentally fell in love with my co-star’.
She has since forged a career on the West End and in October 2023 she played the famous Julia Roberts in the West End musical Pretty Woman (pictured)
She went on to gush about her new boyfriend, describing him as an ‘absolute ray of sunshine’ as she said: ‘’He’s an absolute powerhouse of a talent… and he’s one of the kindest, most caring people I’ve ever met.’
Their new romance came shortly after Amber cleared her Instagram of traces of her on-again-off-again beau Nick Kyriacou. It is not clear when they parted ways.
The former couple met during lockdown in 2020 after being introduced by a mutual friend.
Davies and Kyriacou had split multiple times during their relationship, but they were thought to be heading towards getting engaged.
