Coronation Street star Julia Golding has given birth to her second child.
The actress, who plays Shona Platt in the soap, took to Instagram to share that she and her husband Ben Silver had welcomed a daughter named Emmeline, as they prepared to bring the newborn home from hospital.
Julia, who announced her pregnancy at the British Soap Awards in June, gushed that she and Ben were ‘absolutely elated’ to have a baby girl and said their son Franklin was ‘besotted’ by the newborn.

Julia sharing a radiant snap with Ben as they left the hospital, after their daughter was born on Saturday.
She captioned the post: ‘On Saturday our little girl arrived. We’re absolutely elated and Franklin is besotted with his ittle sister, Emmeline Beanie Silver. She’s perfect.’
Many of Julia’s co-stars offered their congratulations in the comments section, with Sally Dynevor writing: ‘Oooh congratulations.’

In June, Julia shared the news that she was expecting her second child as she unveiled her bump on the red carpet at the British Soap Awards.
She and her husband Ben previously welcomed their first child, named Franklin Wolf Silver, in 2019.

She made the joyous announcement on her Instagram account, as she shared a snapshot of herself and husband Ben Silver posing in a park shortly after she went into labour.
Captioning the image, which showed the couple wrapped up in woollen coats, she wrote: ‘Thank you to the lovely couple in the park who took this picture for us: Taken as I was in early labour on my due date.
‘The next day Ben and I welcomed our baby son into the world. Franklin Wolf Silver born on 30/11/19.’
She concluded the heartwarming post: ‘He’s changed our lives for the better in every way. I feel like I’ve known him my whole life.’

The actress took a four-month break from filming before returning to set in March 2020, before production was paused due to the Covid pandemic.
Julia and her teacher husband got engaged after three years of dating, but kept the news private for 10 months.
They tied the knot on stage at Manchester’s Albert Hall in February 2019, surrounded by friends and family.
Flouting tradition for the wedding, the couple walked up the aisle together hand-in-hand in what they revealed was their own choice.
