Comedian Nikki Osborne shares the brutal truth about rich people in Australia: ‘I’m here today to disprove that…’

A no-nonsense comedian has brutally slapped down wealthy Australians, insisting that having a lot of money in the bank does not necessarily make you ‘wise’.

Nikki Osborne, 42, said she is often annoyed by the advice of wealthier people who are ‘clutching at the self-proclaimed title of wise’ – simply because of their riches.

‘Yes, you’ve clearly done something right at some point to reach this financial status… but patronising me… isn’t gonna fly… I’m here today to disprove that wealth = wisdom,’ she wrote in QWeekend.

She said that while some successful people are qualified to give advice specific to their field, simply accruing wealth does not ‘make them the authority on life advice’.

Nikki went on to target baby boomers, engaging with recent debates about intergenerational wealth disparities.

‘When you bought a house, it was only three times your annual salary, whereas now it’s more like 10 times a dual income. That’s right, both parents have to work now.’

Wealthy celebrities and other successful figures also copped flak, as Nikki claimed ‘the more successful one becomes, the more departed from reality one is’.

It comes after Nikki recently revealed her two young sons were taken from her and checked for ‘explosives’ during a frightening ordeal at Dubai airport.

She had been holidaying in France with sons Will, 15, and Teddy, 10, before catching a flight back to Australia, and was transiting in the early hours.

Recalling the upsetting time in The Courier Mail, Nikki said airport officials waved her through but stopped the boys for inspection.

‘I handed security our three boarding passes and passports and instead of handing them all back to me, to my bewilderment, he identified and pointed to my two young boys, gave them their corresponding papers, then said to me, ”Lady, you go through the gate to board your plane. Boys, you come with me,”‘ she explained.

Nikki said she refused to leave her two young boys, who were frozen with fear.

She added one of her sons even mouthed ‘stop them’ after being told he would be separated from her.

‘I went into mama bear mode and said, ”Neeeeooooo, they stay with me or I come with them,”’ she said.

‘It’s 2.30am, in a foreign country, they have my boys, they have their passports, what do I have to stop them? We’ve seen the movies. We know that when it comes to foreign travel, things can turn on a dime.’

The two boys were then led off to an exam room, where Nikki marched behind him.

Nikki observed only adults were being subjected to checks, not children, aside from her own.

After the examination, the trio boarded their flight back to Australia.

Nikki raged at airport staff, asking: ‘Who in their right mind thinks it’s okay to separate young children from their mother?’

The performer added both her boys were deeply distressed by the incident, with one of them crying the entire 14-hour flight home.

She finished by warning fellow holidaymakers planning on travelling through Dubai, saying she hoped a similar incident doesn’t happen to their family.
