Colin Jost and the rest of the Saturday Night Live cast sent out a touching message to one of their own at the end of the November 18 show.
As host Jason Momoa was hugging the cast, the Weekend Update host held a sign reading ‘We love you Dana and Paula.’
The message was for SNL alum Dana Carvey, 68, and his wife, Paula Zwagerman, who lost their son Dex, 32, to an accidental overdose earlier in the week.
In a post on Instagram Saturday, Dana, who won an Emmy award for his work on the long running late night sketch show, thanked his fans for reaching out to his family after the terrible news.
My wife and I have been overwhelmed by your love, your personal stories, your compassion,’ the actor wrote.

He added, ‘We received so many beautiful messages from people who knew Dex. These touched us more than we could ever express in words.’
The rest of the communication read, ‘We will heal the best we can and carry on. Our darling Dex would have wanted it that way.’
He signed off: ‘Much Love, Dana.’
Many fans have sent their love for the comedian and his family, including those who have also lost their loved ones.
‘As mother of a son who overdosed at 20, my heart breaks every day and now for you too,’ one commenter shared.

Another follower who has been in Dana’s shoes shared, ‘So very sorry for your loss. We lost our only son the same way. Dex is still with you. Watch for the signs. I’ll be praying for you and for all who loved him.’
Dana Carvey entered homes around the world as a cast member of SNL from 1986 to 1993.
His portrayals of former President George HW Bush and former presidential candidate Ross Perot earned him high praise.
The comedian also invented quirky characters such as the Church Lady and Garth from Wayne’s World who became fan favorites during his tenure on the late night show.
