The entertainment world and fans all around the world continue to share tributes for Matthew Perry, who passed away at his Los Angeles home on Saturday at the age of 54.
Actress Christina Ricci, 43, shared her thoughts and emotions upon hearing the tragic news that he had been found dead in his backyard jacuzzi.
‘I burst into tears when I read the news today,’ the Yellowjackets star began in an Instagram post, alongside a photo of Perry’s memoir Friends, Lovers, And The Big Terrible Thing.
With her heartfelt emotions coming though her words, Ricci shared that she had ‘never met Matthew Perry, but I loved him. Friends saved me numerous times during hard and lonely times in my life.’
She added, ‘I adored his character and wanted to marry Chandler Bing as a teenager. I watched all his movies. He was a genius.’

It turns out Sunday was a travel day for Ricci, so she decided to use the time on the plane to learn more about his life, loves and struggles by reading his 2022 memoir.
‘I downloaded his book and read the whole thing on my cross country flight today,’ she revealed.
‘I’m heartbroken this man suffered so much in life while giving us so much of himself,’ she added, before urging people to ‘read his book. It’s another gift he gave us. If you’re struggling with addiction issues it might just save your life.’
The Buffalo ’66 actress concluded her post by writing, ‘May he finally rest in peace.’
The cause of death for Perry has been deferred, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office announced on Sunday, according to KTLA.
The county medical examiner’s website describes a deferred cause of death as meaning that an ‘additional investigation of the case has been requested.’
Perry reportedly returned to his home in the Pacific Palisades after playing pickleball for a couple of hours in the morning before sending his assistant on an errand. When his assistant returned home just after 4 p.m., he discovered the actor unconscious.

Police have said that they do not believe foul play was involved.
His family spoke to People Magazine and in a statement and said that they are ‘heartbroken’ by the loss of a ‘beloved son and brother. Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend. You all meant so much to him and we appreciate the tremendous outpouring of love.’

‘Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman,’ he wrote in the caption.
While Perry is best known for his 10 season run on Friends (1994-2004), he also starred in such films as Fools Rush In (1997), The Whole Nine Yards (2000) and The Whole Ten Yards (2004), as well as the series Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip (2006-2007), Mr. Sunshine (2011), Go On (2012-2013) and The Odd Couple (2015-2017).
