
Body found in a creek near major Westfield shopping centre as police declare a crime scene

A body has been found in a creek beside a busy Westfield shopping centre in Brisbane as police declare a crime scene.
The body was pulled from Downfall Creek along Murphy Road, near a Westfield shopping centre at Chermside, at about 11:30am on Thursday.
Construction workers at a building site beside the creek are believed to have discovered the body and notified police, the Courier Mail reports.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman said they believed it was a man.
‘A member of the public called it in to us,’ she said.
‘The area has now been declared a crime scene.’

Images from the scene show a team of firefighters in lifejackets standing beside the creek as well as plain-clothed detectives, QFES workers and paramedics.
Investigations are continuing into whether the death is suspicious.
Members of the public have been urged to avoid the area.
