Cher files to place son Elijah Blue Allman, 47, in a conservatorship to manage his finances ‘due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues’

Cher has filed court papers seeking to place her adult son Elijah Blue Allman into a conservatorship, saying that he’s addicted to drugs, unable to mange his financial affairs, and deals with health issues both physically and mentally.

The legendary entertainer, 77, said in court docs reviewed by TMZ that Elijah Blue, 47, is ‘substantially unable to manage his own financial resources due to severe mental health and substance abuse issues.’

A court date has been set up for March 6, 2024 on the issue, according to the outlet.

Elijah Blue is the son of Cher and late rock star Gregg Allman, who died at the age of 69 in May of 2017.

Cher said that Elijah receives interval payments from a trust Allman set up, and that she’s worried he will use his money to obtain more drugs instead of paying essential expenses.

The If I Could Turn Back Time singer said that as Elijah’s mother, she is best suited to be the conservator, and has received internal family support on the issue.

Cher said Elijah’s estranged wife Marieangela King has been a destructive presence in his life and is impeding efforts to have him get the help he needs with drug and mental health issues.

King and Cher have past publicly sparred, with King claiming that Cher attempted to kidnap Elijah last year in an effort to send him to a rehab facility. Cher has denied the allegations.

The Believe singer said in court docs, according to The Blast, that she has not been able to effectively communicate with Elijah on the important issue.

Cher ‘has been unable to discuss Elijah’s preferences concerning the appointment of a temporary conservator because given Elijah’s current mental and physical health issues, discussed in detail in the concurrently filed Confidential Supplemental Information, he is unable to form or express a preference concerning the appointment of a conservator for his estate.’
