Celine Dion wows as she sings backstage at Grammys with nominee Sonyae Elise – after star’s shock appearance at show amid stiff-person syndrome battle

Celine Dion showed off her continued vocal prowess as she belted out a song backstage at the Grammys on Sunday – after her battle with stiff person syndrome forced her to step away from her career.

The singer, 55, was greeted with a standing ovation as she walked onstage at the awards – before fans went into uproar over Taylor Swift, 34, ‘ignoring her’ as she collected her Album of the Year Award.

The star brushed off the drama backstage as she sang a duet with the Grammy nominee – showing her stellar vocals as the pair embraced.

Sonyae shared the clip to her Instagram with fans wowed over the collaboration.

Dion’s appearance saw her handed Taylor her award, but fans pointed out that Swift didn’t acknowledge her and didn’t make eye contact, quickly looking back to celebrate the moment with her collaborators instead.

However, there appeared to be no ill-feelings as the iconic pair later posed-up happily backstage.

Celine also ‘riffed’ with Stevie Wonder and caught up with Oprah Winfrey.

A source told PageSix: ‘I don’t think Céline cared and they talked backstage afterwards. But Céline was just gracious and happy to be there. Of course, the right thing would have been for Taylor to acknowledge her, like Adele did years ago.

‘She wanted to show everyone that she’s doing alright. She has good days and bad days … it’s a painful disease, but it’s not a death sentence.

‘She’s clearly capable of doing things and she wanted to show everyone that she’s back. She looked fantastic. The hope is that she will be able to perform.’

Swift received backlash for being ‘disrespectful’ by ‘ignoring’ Celine Dion while accepting the award for Album of the Year at the Grammys on Sunday.

Dion made a surprise rare appearance at the ceremony, amid her battle with stiff-person syndrome, to present Swift, 34, with the honor – which she herself won 27 years ago.

Swift – who was nominated for her 2022 record Midnights – became the first person to win the accolade four times and excitingly made her way to the stage at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
