Canada routs Russia en route to world junior final


Canada defeated Russia 5-0 on Monday to secure a berth in the gold medal game at the world junior hockey championship.

Alex Newhook opened the scoring for Canada 59 seconds into the contest with Connor McMichael and Cole Perfetti adding two more first period goals.

Braden Schneider would give the Canadians a four-goal lead in second period before captain Dylan Cozens would tally an empty-net marker late in the final period.

Canadian goaltender Devon Levi made 28 saves en route to a shutout.
