Antonio Lorenzo, a left-wing San Antonio councillor, used footage of the brawl to criticise ruling right-wing politicians for voting against the proposal to include San Antonio port in the area affected by the ‘drunken tourism’ decree which covers the nearby West End area and includes limitations on alcohol purchases.

Addressing the likes of the town mayor Marcos Serra on Twitter he said: ‘They voted no to including the port and the Arenal in the area of excesses and combatting party boats and today we have these images of the customers of this type of offer.
