Body of boy, five, is pulled from river in Wales after police were called to reports of a missing child

  • The boy’s body was found in the Ogmore River near Pandy Park in Bridgend
  • Officers are appealing for more information on the ‘tragic incident’ 

A five-year-old boy has been found dead after officers pulled his body out of a river in Bridgend, Wales.

South Wales Police were called at 5.45am today to a missing child report in the Sarn area.

His body was found in Ogmore River near Pandy Park. He was taken to Princess of Wales Hospital where he was pronounced dead. 

Specially trained officers are supporting the boy’s family and police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Chief Inspector Geraint White said: ‘This is a tragic incident in which a young child has sadly lost their life.

‘We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident, or who has any information, to get in touch.

‘We would ask the public not to speculate about this incident on social media as this is an active investigation.

‘If you have any information that can help, please report this to us.

‘Our thoughts are with the family and we are supporting them in every way we can.’
