Olympic boxing medallist Harry Garside has been arrested over domestic violence allegations on his return to Australia from filming reality TV series I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here.
Garside was taken into custody at Sydney International Airport after police launched an investigation into reports of an incident involving a 32-year-old woman, a NSW Police spokeswoman told AAP on Tuesday.
‘He has been taken to Mascot Police Station, where he is assisting police with inquiries,’ the spokeswoman said.
The champion men’s lightweight boxer won bronze for Australia at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and has won seven Australian national boxing championships.

Garside recently appeared on the ninth season of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here where he was runner-up to former champion netballer Liz Ellis.
The finale aired on Sunday night. Host Julia Morris said the result came down to the wire.
‘We can say the result was extremely close,’ she said.
News Corp has reported that Garside was met by police detectives upon his arrival at Sydney Airport on Monday after his flight from Johannesburg.
Garside was travelling with his father, Shaun, who was allowed to continue through customs to collect his bags.
Garside, on the other hand, was escorted by two NSW Police detectives and two Australian Federal Police officers to a waiting car.
The 25-year-old athlete was then taken to a nearby police station, where he was interviewed over an alleged incident that took place in March with his ex-girlfriend, Ash Ruscoe.
Ruscoe, a wellness instructor and personal trainer, competed on another Ten reality show, The Amazing Race Australia with former partner Sidney Pierucci.
The alleged altercation took place in Ruscoe’s Bondi apartment complex and required police intervention.

He captioned the post: ‘Had to upgrade my best mate to business with me. What an experience it has been. Something I will truly never forget, friendships that will last a lifetime.’
Garside won a bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo in the men’s lightweight event.
He competed on I’m A Celebrity for his chosen charity, Reach youth organisation.

Garside opened up on his future on I’m a Celebrity, admitting he was torn between staying amateur and representing his country, going professional for money or quitting altogether
During his time in South Africa, he said that he would use his jungle experience to figure out what he would do with his career in the future.
‘One, stay professional [in boxing] and turn away from my heart, but potentially set my family up for life with money,’ he said.
‘Option two, try go to the Olympics next year, try and win a gold medal and honour myself, honour my country, honour my heart, and honour my pride – but have no money.
‘Or option three, walk away from boxing altogether and focus my energy on something else.
‘I’m sitting on a bit of a lottery ticket right now, where I realistically could cash in on my boxing career. There’s a big potential that I could make a lot of money. So there, of course, is that pressure,’ he acknowledges.
‘I want to set my family up and I want to buy my mum and dad a house. And I want my kids to eat well. Of course I want that.’
‘But is it to the detriment of [my] happiness? That’s the dilemma.’
At the time, Garside said he was ‘single’ after splitting from Ruscoe.
