Bodycam footage shows FOUR-YEAR-OLD boy shooting at cops as they arrest his father at a McDonald’s

Police in Utah have released video of a February shooting in which a 4-year-old child opened fire on officers because ‘he wanted his daddy back.’

Cops were in the process of arresting the child’s father, Sadaat Johnson, 27, when the shocking incident occurred on February 12 around 1:30 p.m.

According to the Unified Police Department in Midvale, Utah, just outside of Salt Lake City, Johnson pulled a gun on a McDonald’s employee at the drive-thru over an issue regarding his order.

An employee said that Johnson began cursing at her and slapped the receipt out of her hand. Then he produced a handgun that was on the passenger seat, cocked it before putting the gun back down.

When the employee closed the window, the suspect picked up the gun and began ‘looking at it,’ according to Fox13.

From there, an employee asked Johnson to pull forward to an area of the parking lot. That’s when police were called and they arrived to arrest Johnson.

The footage shows Johnson refusing officer’s requests to get out of the car before taking matters into their own hands, opening the driver’s side door and forcibly removing Johnson.

As Johnson is being apprehended, Officer Morgan Matthews apparently saw the gun being pointed at them and shouted: ‘Gun!’ A gunshot is heard seconds later.

After looking inside the car, an officer shouts: ‘Kid!’ Children’s crying can be heard in the background.

The gun, described as a silver handgun in documents, went off as the officer attempted to swipe it away from the child’s hands.

Following the gunshot, an officer can be heard telling the children: ‘It’s okay.’

No officers were injured in the incident.

In March, Johnson was charged with child abuse, aggravated assault and interference with an arresting officer.

The child picked up the gun because ‘he wanted his daddy back,’ reports ABC4. The station also quotes the child as hearing his father say that the officers ‘cannot open the door’ and that he ‘didn’t want to shoot the lady at the happy meal store,’ prior to his arrest.

Officials initially alleged that Johnson instructed his child to open fire.

Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera alluded to that in a statement in February, saying: ‘To have an adult think it is okay to encourage a [4]-year-old to pull a firearm and shoot at police illustrates how out of hand the campaign against police has gotten.’

In the charging documents, that allegation is not mentioned. According to Fox13, Johnson said that he did not tell his child bad things about the police but to avoid them wherever possible.

On his Facebook page, Johnson regularly posts memes showing his opposition to the Black Lives Matter movement, abortion, Covid-19 lockdown protocols and Vice President Kamala Harris.

The suspect did not address the February shooting incident on his Facebook page.

Johnson maintains his innocence and says that he ‘blacked out’ after arguing with the McDonald’s employee. He denies pointing the gun, despite surveillance footage showing him with the firearm, according to police.

During his interview, Johnson said that his child has handled his gun previously.

The suspect has ties to Georgia and only moved to Utah in 2021. He has another child in Georgia.

The officer involved in the incident said at a city council meeting in March where he was honored for his actions in swiping the gun away: ‘We just wanna do our job and make sure we go home every night.’

Johnson’s wife and the mother of the 4-year-old, Alexis Davis, told Fox13 in March: ‘It kind of brought me to my knees because he put a loaded weapon in my four year old’s hand.’

She added: ‘It will mess with my son mentally in the future and that’s something I would have to deal with.’

According to Davis, she and Johnson have an arrangement that their children spend some of their time living in Utah with him.

Davis continued: ‘I’m sad about the situation, It sucks, it’s hurtful, I’m praying about it and I just want my kids home as soon as possible.’
