Bayern Munich ‘set Tottenham deadline of TONIGHT’ to accept Harry Kane offer before turning to other striker targets as Daniel Levy plays hardball

  • Bayern Munich have seen an offer of £85million for Harry Kane rejected
  • Tottenham are seeking closer to £100m for the prolific England forward
  • Reports suggest Bayern will turn to other targets if latest offer not accepted

Bayern Munich have reportedly set Tottenham Hotspur a deadline of midnight on Friday to accept their latest offer for Harry Kane.

The German champions are in pole position to sign the England striker but have already seen a bid of £85million rebuffed by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.

Spurs are demanding a fee closer to £100m for their prize asset but, according to the Daily Telegraph, Bayern will walk away and consider other targets if a deal can’t be approved soon.

If Kane doesn’t get his move to Bayern, it is expected he will see out the final year of his Spurs contract and leave for nothing next summer.

Both clubs – plus Kane himself – wants the situation resolved with just another week until Spurs begin their Premier League campaign at Brentford.

Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel installed Kane, 30, as his No 1 target earlier in the summer but if an agreement isn’t reached in the next few hours, the German club will move on.

The Bundesliga giants are prepared to smash their club record fee paid – the £68m paid for centre-back Lucas Hernandez four years ago – to secure Kane.

The Telegraph say there remains a ‘cautious confidence’ an agreement can be reached following talks between the respective club hierarchies.

They say Bayern will have to offer Tottenham a guaranteed fee of £86m, plus add-ons, to push through Kane’s sale despite the risk of losing him for nothing in 2024.

Kane has shown no desire to extend his Tottenham contract and the ball now rests in Levy’s court after Bayern’s apparent ultimatum.

England’s record goalscorer would be happy to join Bayern despite his pursuit of Alan Shearer’s Premier League goals record of 260. Kane is 47 short at present.

Reports say there was a £20m difference between what Bayern were prepared to pay for Kane and Spurs’ demand when face-to-face talks between club officials took place on Monday.

Spurs chairman Levy met with Bayern’s chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen and technical director Marco Neppe in London.

Ideally, Bayern would have the signing of Kane complete before next Saturday’s curtain-raising DFL-Supercup against RB Leipzig.

The opening game of their Bundesliga campaign, as they aim for a 12th consecutive title, is at Werder Bremen the following Friday.

Bayern’s transfer kitty has been boosted by the £24m sale of Sadio Mane to Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr but his departure has accelerated the need to bring in another forward.
