Anton Du Beke jokes he has spent time ‘internally sobbing’ on the Strictly dancefloor in the past

Strictly’s Anton Du Beke leaves audience in hysterics by alluding to his failed attempts to scoop the Glitterball and joking he’s spent ‘many evenings crying internally on the dancefloor’

Strictly Come Dancing’s Anton Du Beke made a hilarious reference to his multiple failed attempts to scoop the Glitterball trophy, by joking he’s spent ”many evenings crying internally on the dancefloor.’

While giving his judgement on Tom Fletcher’s Couple’s Choice dance with Amy Dowden, the dancer urged the McFly frontman to show more emotion and hilariously drew on his own experience.

Anton joked: ‘I’ve spent many evenings on the Strictly Come Dancing floor internally sobbing to myself!’ before he and the audience began to laugh at the reference.

Hilarious: Anton Du Beke admitted on Saturday night’s Strictly Come Dancing that he spent a lot of time ‘internally sobbing’ on the dancefloor while he was working as a professional

The professional, who has taken on the role as judge, never had any luck with his celebrity pairings and did not win the Glitterball trophy in his 16-year tenure on the show.

In the past he has been known for his comedic dances with Ann Widdecombe and Nancy Dell’Olio.

He reached the final back in 2015 with Katie Derham but lost out and placed fourth.

It happened again in 2019 when he reached the final with Emma Barton, but failed to wow enough to pick up the trophy.

He has also been paired with Kate Garraway, Ruth Langsford and Susannah Constantine.

Anton’s judgment of Tom’s dance went on as he said: ‘I have to say I enjoyed it, you were more powerful. I enjoyed the performance and I enjoy Musicals Week.

‘My only criticism is that I could see exactly what was coming when you started coming towards me.’

‘That means you were thinking too much, just let it go and enjoy yourself.’

Elsewhere, Shirley Ballas told Tom to let his emotions go to make his performance better and overall scored 31, leaving them joint bottom of the leaderboard next to Dan Walker.

Tom told Claudia: ‘I have loved this week and every second that performance. Musical theatre is such a big part of my life and my family’s life and I am so pleased I got to do that dance.’

Tilly Ramsay and Nikita Kuzmin, meanwhile, scored a perfect 40 for their couples choice leaving them at the top of the leaderboard.

Disappointing: Anton's judgment of Tom's dance went on as he said: 'I have to say I enjoyed it, you were more powerful. I enjoyed the performance and I enjoy Musicals Week.' They scored 31 points
