America Ferrera celebrated her first Oscar nomination with her co-stars from The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants over FaceTime

Just moments after securing her first Oscar nomination on Tuesday, America Ferrera celebrated on FaceTime with her co-stars of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

The 39-year-old actress shared a video on Instagram that ‘re-enacted’ her initial reaction to her Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress in Barbie.

She also shared a screenshot of a Facetime call with her co-stars from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants – Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel and Amber Tamblyn.

Ferrera also explained in an interview with Variety that her co-stars were among the first to congratulate her after her husband Ryan Piers Williams and her publicist.

Ferrera’s Instagram post begins with a ‘re-enactment’ of her reaction to the nomination, since her husband Williams was taking their kids to school.

‘Re-enactment for @ryanpierswilliams of when I got the news that I’m Academy Award nominated!!!!!! He was taking the kids to school so I was at home alone but he insisted on a re-do,’ Ferrera explained.

‘And then there was a lot of screaming with some of my sisters on FaceTime. I’m still processing. Needless to say- wow! What a thing! Childhood dream realized. Thank you @theacademy @barbiethemovie and the Queens Greta and Margot who we all know deserve everything for what they gifted the world!’ she said.

In the first video, Williams was filming and asked his wife for a re-enactment, as she explained from bed that she wanted to be, ‘laying down for this bad news.’

She explained that she was scrolling through her phone adding that she, ‘pressed play and went “Yay Barbie!’

‘And then it was like, Best Supporting Actress and it went straight to Emily Blunt and I thought, “Oh man, it’s alphabetical, so they skipped A… but it was by last name,’ Ferrera realized.

‘It went Emily and then Danielle (Brooks) and then I went like this,’ she said, as she covered her mouth, stunned by the nomination, as Williams laughed.

‘Then I just sat here quiet and then my phone started blowing up. I can’t believe it. It’s insane,’ as Williams added, ‘Aww, I’m so proud of you babe.’

Ferrera insisted that she hasn’t even ‘processed it yet,’ before sharing another video of her Facetiming with friends Erin Cahir Leafe, Tamara Hamdan and Pat Stango.

One of them said, ‘I screamed so loud all of Park Slope knows,’ referring to the Brooklyn neighborhood.

She then shared a screenshot of Lively, Bledel and Tamblyn gleefully reacting to the news.

She also shared a screenshot of her agent Alexandra Trustman, and publicists Mariko Kawachi and Brianna Lynn Smith, and another with Eva Longoria and This Is Humanity co-founder Elsa Marie Collins.

The final image was of Hamdan and Leafe, the latter of whom was wiping away tears in the shot.

She also told Variety of the moment that made her an Oscar-nominated actress, ‘There was a moment where I wasn’t sure if I had made it up. And then my phone started blowing up so I figured that I must have heard it right.’

‘I still haven’t really been able to get in my feelings because I’m still on like the top layer of ‘I can’t even believe that this is real,’ she added.

The actress added she heard from her publicist first and then Williams, adding her husband, ‘was screaming and emotional. And I just heard my kids in the back, like so confused. “What are you screaming about?”‘

The next group she heard from was her Traveling Pants co-stars Lively, Bledel and Tamblyn, who Ferrera said, ‘FaceTimed me as a group right away.’

‘It was hilarious and funny and emotional and it’s wonderful to be celebrated and held up by my sisters,’ she said of her co-stars and friends.

‘These women who I’ve had the honor of growing up with in this industry and being loved and cheered on and supported by them. Which we all do for each other. They’re amazing, and such a gift in my life,’ she said.

Barbie earned eight Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor (Ryan Gosling), Best Adapted Screenplay (Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach), though many – including Ferrera – were upset that Margot Robbie didn’t get nominated for Best Actress, and Gerwig wasn’t up for Best Director.

‘I was incredibly disappointed that they weren’t nominated,’ Ferrera revealed.
