Abbey Clancy reveals husband Peter Crouch forgot to buy her any presents last Christmas and left her to cook dinner alone in favour of going to the local pub

Abbey Clancy has revealed her husband Peter Crouch left her to cook the Christmas dinner alone as he popped down to the pub for a pint last year.

The model, 37, also said the former Liverpool FC star, 42, didn’t buy her any presents that year either as they chatted on Michael McIntyre’s Christmas Wheel.

On Christmas day, the show sees seven celebrity experts – including Abbey and Peter – on hand to use their knowledge of Christmas to help three famous faces bank as much money as possible.

Abbey, who was on the wheel, said she is typically left to organise the entire day as the ex-striker revealed he has ‘nothing to do with it’.

But the mother-of-four admitted that she doesn’t want to take on the role of ‘being in charge’ of Christmas and she is just ‘given it’.

The blonde beauty said: ‘Last year everyone went the pub and left me on my own to do all the dinner and everything.’

‘It’s not every year but it was the year you [Peter] didn’t get me any presents’, she added.

The audience booed her husband as she went to say: ‘It is true. I did that thing were you are like “what do you want for Christmas, oh lets not do presents this year” but he took it literally.’

Peter couldn’t recall his less-than-ideal behaviour and questioned his wife, ‘Did I not get you anything?’ before telling Abbey that he didn’t believe it.

Abbey went on to reassure him that he had, in fact, forgotten to buy her anything.

But this isn’t the first time Abbey has complained of Peter’s lack of effort around the house as she admitted ‘it’s hard to keep the spark alive after 20 years’ and added that she’d ‘love it if he was more domesticated’.

Abbey revealed she has now ‘given up’ trying to coach him and she is typically left on her own to pick up after their children.

The podcast host pair share four children, Sophia, 12, Liberty, eight, Johnny, five and Jack, four, together.

In an interview with new! magazine, Abbey said: ‘Pete and I have been together for nearly 20 years, and it’s hard to keep the spark alive.

‘Like any couple, we have our niggles. You can slip into your roles of cooking and cleaning and you need to break that cycle.

‘I’d love it if Peter was more domesticated but I’ve given up and he leaves me to do the cooking and cleaning.’

But all is not lost, as the football star has been pulling his weight elsewhere in the relationship.

Abbey revealed that Peter tried his best to keep the spark alive between the two of them as he planned a surprise trip to Thailand to ‘reconnect’.

While the thought was there, Peter didn’t see plan ahead and when the pair arrived at their luxury destination, it soon became obvious that is was monsoon season.

Being stuck indoors for 48 hours, The Therapy Crouch podcast hosts had a couples massage, napped and enjoyed some brunch.

The topic of having more children was discussed on the rainy getaway, but Abbey said that expanding their family is not on the cards right now.

She joked: ‘We both love being parents and it’s the most fulfilling role, but having more right now is not on the agenda. Besides, Peter has said he’ll leave me if we have any more.’

Michael McIntyre’s Christmas Wheel is on BBC One at 6.50pm 25th December, and on BBC iPlayer.
