Ricardo Godoi, a 45-year-old Brazilian influencer, tragically passed away after experiencing cardiac arrest while undergoing a back tattoo procedure under general anesthesia.

The influencer, who had a substantial following of 218,000 on Instagram, was reportedly undergoing the inking at a private hospital in Itapema, located in the southern Santa Catarina state of Brazil. The hospital was equipped with the necessary medical staff and equipment, as well as anesthesia drugs for the procedure.

Godoi had posted on Instagram shortly before the procedure, informing his followers that he would be offline for the day, stating: “I’m about to undergo a surgical procedure and will only be back here after 4 pm.” Tragically, he went into cardiac arrest even before the tattoo procedure had begun. He was promptly attended to by medical staff, including a cardiologist, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

The tattoo studio that had arranged the procedure expressed its sorrow, stating that Ricardo was not only a valued client but also a close friend. They shared their regret over his untimely passing, saying that the cardiac arrest occurred during the sedation and intubation process, before the start of the tattooing.

A statement posted on Godoi’s Instagram confirmed his death, expressing sympathy for his family and friends. It read, “It is with great regret that we inform you about the death of Ricardo Godoi yesterday at midday. At this painful moment, we show solidarity with his friends and family, wishing them strength and comfort to overcome this unbearable loss.”

Tributes poured in for the influencer, with many reflecting on his generosity and joyful nature. One tribute described him as an “incredible person” who “left his mark on the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.”

The studio further clarified that they had taken every precaution for the safety of the procedure. They had arranged for a private hospital, hired an anaesthesiologist with relevant experience, and ensured that blood tests did not indicate any risks associated with the procedure. Godoi had also signed a consent form acknowledging the potential risks involved.

Ricardo Godoi, known for his successful luxury sports car business and for sharing pictures of his lavish lifestyle, leaves behind his wife and children. His passing has prompted an official investigation. The hospital where he passed away, Dia Revitalite Hospital, has not made a public statement.

Friends and family have expressed their disbelief, with one friend describing the sudden loss as “unbelievable” and remembering Godoi as an “enlightened person.” His legacy will be remembered by those who knew him, with many referring to him as someone who helped others achieve their dreams.
