76ers clinch dramatic 119-115 win over the Celtics in Game 1, despite being without Joel Embiid

No Embiid, no problem! The 76ers clinch dramatic 119-115 win over the Celtics in Game 1, despite being without their star forward after Malcolm Brogdon bizarrely passes directly to Tyrese Maxey to gift Philadelphia a late lead

The Philadelphia 76ers drew first blood in their Eastern Conference semifinals against the Boston Celtics, winning Game 1 119-115 Monday night.

The 76ers were without star Joel Embiid who was ruled out for Game 1 Monday night due to a knee injury but that didn’t hold them back as they snatched a late win over the hosts.

Embiid had been listed as doubtful for Monday’s game, with what was widely reported to be a Grade 1 LCL knee sprain.

However, Fox Sports reported Monday afternoon that Embiid actually has a small tear in the right knee that will require a procedure at some point. It comes two days after The Athletic reported the injury is more serious than a Grade 1 sprain.

More to follow.
